The Assistant Director of Athletic Equipment Operations assists with the management of the Athletics Equipment Room in a safe, secure, and effective manner. The Assistant Director of Athletic Equipment Operations is under the general supervision of the Director of Athletic Equipment Operations and assists with the overall equipment operation for 15 NCAA Division I varsity sports.
Collaborate on the development of policies and procedures for the Athletic Equipment Room and implement them. Work with the Director of Equipment Operations in maintaining the budget including all equipment and gear for all 15 varsity teams. Monitors budget daily to ensure overages do not occur. Establish and maintain a database for each item of sports equipment issued, (athletic practice and competition gear) tracking its issue, return, and condition by computer. Maintain inventory of athletic gear by item by sport on the database, including new equipment and uniforms received. Team with the Director of Athletic Equipment Operations in soliciting bids for athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies, evaluate bids and determine best product at best price. Obtain purchase order and submit to successful vendor. Provide proper fitting of athletic gear for the protection and safety of student-athletes, in keeping with the NOCSAE and reconditioning standards on a daily basis. Work closely with the Director of Athletic Equipment Operations preparing equipment for home and away competition. Maintain, repair and refurbish uniforms, equipment, and supplies upon return. Comply with all Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Montana State University-Bozeman, Big Sky Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, as well as appropriate Title IX regulations. Perform all other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletic Equipment Operations or the Director of Athletic Business Operations.
Demonstrated working experience in a NCAA collegiate athletic equipment room.
Experience fitting athletic equipment to NOCSAE standards to student-athletes while maintaining compliance with rules for sports equipment.
Demonstrated budgetary experience, including fiscal integrity with respect to budgets & planning.
Current AEMA certification or certified within 1 year of employment.
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated working experience.
