The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL. We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes a number of departments: Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.
Position Summary The position of Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities & Events will hold a 100% appointment in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (“the Department”) and will report directly to the Deputy Director of Athletics. The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities & Events will manage the daily operation and maintenance of athletics and sports facilities on campus and be responsible for event management of 21 varsity athletics programs at a Division III institution. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, facility and staff management, scheduling indoor and outdoor athletics and sports facilities, working with internal and external constituents, oversite of the game day operations for all varsity programs and assist in the planning and development of athletics and sports facilities projects. The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities & Events is expected to work in collaboration with all users of the facilities including, but not limited to, Athletics, Exercise and Sports Science, Recreational Sports Department, other campus users and external groups. The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities & Events must conduct themselves in such a way as to enhance respect for the university, the department, all UWL varsity programs and UWL student-athletes
• Bachelor’s degree. • Events and facility management experience. • Knowledge or experience of collegiate athletics. • Detail-orientated with strong organizational skills. • Valid driver’s license.
• Master’s degree in Sport Management, Sport Administration or Business Management. • Events and facility management experience within an athletic or recreation setting. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of groups including students, faculty, staff and community members. • Experience managing operational budgets of facilities. • Strong working knowledge and experience with event management software. • Understanding of APPA facility guidelines and best practices for building scheduling and utilization.
