Serve as the primary communications liaison for CBU athletics and its 17 NCAA athletics programs. The successful candidate must be highly organized and driven with exceptional multi-tasking and communication skills. Must have strong knowledge of social media platforms as well as outstanding writing and public relations skills. Some travel will be required as well as working long hours and weekends. The successful candidate will also be responsible for all aspects of traditional game day media relations operations.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
--Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education. --Serve as the primary communications contact for Christian Brothers University's varsity athletics programs --Prepare, maintain and distribute media information and other publicity for CBU athletics programs. --Produce consistent, quality content for primary social media platforms while providing assistance for sport-specific platforms --Produce consistent, quality content for, and update and maintain the university's athletics website, CBUBucs.com --Logging game statistics and reporting to the Gulf South Conference and NCAA --Produce game day marketing and informational materials --Maintain accurate historical records, including record books --Supervise two (2) direct report graduate assistants --Coordinating and managing student employees to assist with the duties of the office --Coordinating and managing employees and volunteers for gameday operations including photographers, videographers and public address announcers --Maintaining and developing relationships with media outlets --Coordinating and executing the successful video stream production of most home athletic events
Additional Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions):
--Nominating and assisting in the nomination of deserving student-athletes for conference, regional and national awards --Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate local, state and national media representatives. --Working with the coaches and various offices across campus to develop and implement marketing materials used to assist in recruitment and retention of student-athletes --Serve as the athletics department's liaison to the university Office of Marketing and Communications --Representation at meetings, both GSC and CoSIDA --Complete other departmental tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Bachelor's degree required (master's preferred) in communications, journalism, marketing, media arts, or a related field.
A minimum of two years of professional work experience in athletics communication, preferably in a higher education environment.
Well-organized and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with graphic/web design, photography and video editing is required as well as a contemporary understanding of social media platforms.
Experience with Stat Crew and Sidearm Sports (or similar CMS), while intermediate knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and other Creative Cloud programs is desired.
