Working independently as the leader of a three-person team which produces video content for the Athletics and Club Sports web sites; produces content and operates video boards in multiple venues for sports events and produces videos for promotion, fan experience, education and instruction. This team is embedded with Athletics and Club Sports. All team members are cross trained and fill in to help regardless of venue. This team staffs more than 200 events per year. 1.Oversee a staff of three videographers and three interns who produce content year-round to support sports entertainment (video boards, ribbon boards) and web informational needs. Projects include feature stories, promotional videos, commercial spots, video packages, still graphics, animated graphics, social media support, video board content, live sports broadcast support and studio show support. 2.Work with the Executive Producer and Associate AD of Communications to determine which projects should be planned for creation and what priorities should be put in place. Once priorities and deadlines are established, projects are assigned based upon capacity. 3.Regularly lead team to produce game recap videos, highlight video specials, press conference video and audio, feature stories on student-athletes and sport video updates. 4.Regularly lead team to create content for eight (8) video boards and two (2) ribbon board systems that are maintained in campus sports venues. This includes still, animated and video content created exclusively for video boards as well as content that is created to be used in multiple platforms such as social media, web and convocation. A major part of this process is to load and test content to be sure it is in the correct format and that it plays correctly prior to the start of the event. 5.Provides team leadership on projects that regularly include storyboarding, script writing, lighting, filming, editing, color grading, audio enhancement and directing for multiple video projects each semester. 6.Maintain the flow of tasks to complete video projects which are short-term (75%) and long-term (25%). 7.Produce single and multi-camera projects in studio and in the field for sports content. 8.Provide the team with support and leadership in the operation of multiple HD camera units, DSLR systems, lenses, dollies, mounts, rigs and other types of video equipment for studio and in the field. Audio equipment is also vital to quality production and includes mics, lavalier mics, boom mics and wireless microphone systems. 9.Remain abreast of existing and emerging video technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks. Coordinate with IT groups to obtain the needed video board training for all and be prepared to personally train for operations as staff changes dictate. 10.Work with IT and the video team to run systems tests for each venue prior to the start of each season to be sure everything is in working order. 11.Create proper written procedures and protocols for each venue and equipment required to provide the appropriate fan experience. When procedures are complete, ensure that all full-time, intern and freelance staff have read and understood the policy that must be followed. 12.Provide for the team to properly provide content in the correct format to be used (encoder, social media, video board, etc.) and also to maintain an effective archive system that complies with all of the university guidelines for retention of raw material for historical purposes. 13.Provide assistance and support for the budgeting process by maintaining a five-year strategic plan for equipment and personnel. Update the plan on a yearly basis or as needed. 14.Maintain a current equipment inventory and organize any required repair or upgrade on systems in regular use. Regularly update the inventory to reflect wear and tear, repair and new items. 15.Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission. 16.Communicate regularly with the Executive Producer and the Athletics and Club Sports marketing teams as projects dictate. 17.Execute other video related tasks as requested by the Senior Associate AD-External.
