Job Summary: Assist the Sports Information Director in promoting East Stroudsburg University (ESU) Athletics and student-athletes through gameday coverage, gameday programs, press releases and media relations. The Assistant SID will also work on ESU’s athletics website, esuwarriors.com, and other print, electronic and social media. The major responsibilities include but are not limited to: compiling and distributing statistics, writing and editing press releases, game stories and feature articles, writing and producing athletic publications including game programs, managing home game press events, assisting with the maintenance of esuwarriors.com, maintaining and enhancing social media sites and assisting in coordinating photography and video production. The Assistant SID will also supervise ESU students who assist with staffing events and office work.
•Responsible for promoting and enhancing the image of East Stroudsburg University and ESU Athletics among the major stakeholders.
•Working with the Sports Information Director in the day-to-day operation of the sports information office, including coverage of all 20 varsity sports (12 women, 8 men). This includes game management as it applies to gathering and maintaining statistics, communications and media relations.
•Coordinating the layout, graphic design and production of all athletics publications, social media graphics, game programs and printed materials, alongside the Sports Information Director.
•Working with the Office of University Relations staff and Department of Athletics to develop, maintain, and advance the athletic department with an emphasis on digital, mobile and social media outreach.
•Assisting the Sports Information Director with the management of @ESUWarriors social media platforms, including (but not limited to) Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
•Assisting in production of audio and video webcasting strategy, including enhancing the presentation of ESU broadcasts on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Network, as assigned by the Sports Information Director.
•Developing and maintaining content and graphics for ESU’s athletics website, esuwarriors.com, as instructed by the Sports Information Director.
•Preparing news releases and feature stories for distribution to local news media and posting on the ESU athletics website as assigned by the Sports Information Director.
•Responding to media requests for specific news articles, including information and photography requests in the absence of or as assigned by the Sports Information Director.
•Traveling to events or activities as dictated by the policy of ESU, the PSAC or the NCAA.
•Supervising activities of graduate/undergraduate student workers.
•Basic photography and videography skills. Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum requirements as described in the PA Commonwealth Class Specification for an Information Writer 2 position.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or marketing, sport management or a related field (Master’s preferred); strong written communications skills; professional experience compiling/archiving and maintaining statistics, executing social and digital media strategy, coordinating video marketing and/or webcasting efforts and promoting an athletics organization; completion of a successful on-campus interview.
Additional qualifications: demonstrated multi-tasking skills and ability to organize workload, ability to work independently, ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing), including good grammar, spelling, proofreading, punctuation and composition. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Proficiency with StatCrew and live stats software. Experience using SIDEARM (website content manager) platform is preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Candidate must also exhibit exemplary customer relations skills and ability to work within tight deadlines.

The candidate must be available to work during non-traditional hours (evening and weekend hours) as a requirement of the job and as assigned by the Sports Information Director. Minimum Salary: $43,012.00
Final selection will be based upon a successful interview and background check. All candidates must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of employment.
