Purpose of Position:
Reporting to the Director of Athletics and the President of Daemen College, the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Support Services is responsible for managing all compliance initiatives and requirements with policies set forth by the NCAA, Conference, and Daemen College including oversight of academic services and life skills programming. In addition, may be assigned administrative oversight of sport programs. May also serves as departmental liaison to campus units in Admissions, Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. Will be a member of Athletics Leadership Team.
Position is full time, salaried, exempt. Driving, travel, weekend and evening hours are required.
Tasks/Duties Performed: • Responsible for the implementation and oversight of all compliance initiatives in accordance with policies set forth by the conference, the NCAA, and Daemen College. • Oversees NCAA Compliance to ensure the enforcement of all applicable NCAA and conference legislation for both internal and external constituencies. • Ensures the education of all representatives of Daemen Athletics and interests as it relates to NCAA, ECC, and Daemen College rules and regulations. • Serve as point person for communications with NCAA and ECC on compliance and governance issues. • Conduct annual team/orientation meetings prior to participation in athletically related activities in the Fall each academic year; • Prepare and submit all required NCAA and conference reports. • Interpret NCAA Rules for coaches and staff. • In collaboration with Faculty Athletics Representative and Office of Registrar, certify initial, transfer and continuing eligibility. • Edit, update and maintain compliance manual and monitor all compliance systems. • Coordinate the renewal, reduction, cancelation or non-renewal of athletic scholarships with assistance from the Financial Aid Office. • Monitor athletic scholarships, financial aid limits and outside aid with assistance from the Financial Aid Office. • Monitor employment of student-athletes according to NCAA Bylaws. • Coordinate the preparation and maintenance of NCAA squad lists with assistance from the Financial Aid and Registrar offices. • Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of NCAA Compliance Assistant software and use such software to prepare necessary reports and otherwise monitor Daemen’s compliance with NCAA and conference legislation. • Ensures accurate monitoring academic standing of student-athletes and communicate data to the President and Director of Athletics. • Oversees the development and implementation a communication system for faculty concerning team travel. • Serves as liaison for Daemen Athletics with the Division of Student Affairs, Office of Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs and Registrar. • Develop and implement a communication system with Residence Life/Housing regarding student- athlete housing; coordinate and organize break housing arrangements. • Ensure proper compliance with NCAA Rules regarding complimentary admissions for athletics events. • Ensure that Daemen Athletics provides grade reports and eligibility standing to coaches and student-athletes using Compliance Assistant software. • Ensure maintenance of recruiting lists and coordinates National Letter of Intent program, which includes notifying athletic communications, financial aid, and admissions of all signees. • Verifies adherence to recruiting policies and procedures (collects all necessary forms and paperwork and disseminates information to all stakeholders). • Serve as Daemen College’s liaison to the NCAA Eligibility Center; • Receive and process final NCAA Eligibility Center eligibility decisions, including notifying Daemen Athletics Head Coaches when a final decision is rendered; • Secure the release for PSA transfer students and process the release of student-athletes seeking to transfer with assistance from the applicable head coach and the Director of Athletics; • Review and audit off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations; • Monitor official and unofficial visits provided in all sports; • Coordinate all NCAA violation Reports, waivers, and appeals. • Identify potential NCAA rules violations, assist in investigations, and report them to the Director of Athletics, Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) and President; • Assist in investigations of reported secondary NCAA rule violations; • Ensures monitoring of playing and practice seasons; • Review declaration of playing and practice seasons, and schedules of contests; • Review, audit and maintain weekly practice logs; • Maintain participation records and track the number of seasons of competition used by student- athletes with assistance from the Athletic Communications Director; • Works with Director of Athletics to manage athletics aid budgets and approves summer aid requests • Oversees compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding summer camps. • Ensures compliance with summer regulations regarding athletics participation, camps and employment for coaches and student-athletes. • Proactively assists with the management of the athletics program, including the formation of policies, the planning of the operations and development of the vision for Daemen Athletics. • Serves as Sport Supervisor of Individual Olympic Sport program(s). • Faculty and staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all confidential and proprietary information (including but not limited to: student personal information, student grades, employee personal information, etc.), both during and after their employment with the College. If a faculty or staff member has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter, he/she should consult their supervisor. Any violation of this rule shall subject the faculty /staff member to disciplinary action, up to and including immediate termination of employment. Please refer to your Employee Guide for the College’s complete statement on confidentiality. • Operates the program under the rules and regulations of the College, the NCAA, and the ECC; understanding that an employee can be suspended for a period of time without pay or terminated if found to be involved in significant or repetitive violations of NCAA regulations; • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Master’s Degree in Sport Management, Business or Higher Education or Law Degree • 2-3 years of experience as a Compliance Coordinator or Compliance Director level or higher at an NCAA Division I or Division II institution. • Ability to work non-traditional business hours including evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary. • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills. • Knowledge of NCAA rules, education and training. • Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and communicate with others by telephone. • Knowledge of supervisory techniques, leadership training, and appropriate team operation. • Knowledge of appropriate computer programs as they relate to the position.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree and three years of NCAA Rules Compliance experience. • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s or Juris Doctorate degree and three years of experience in NCAA Division II compliance and/or academic services and counseling. • Experience with NCAA Compliance Assistant software. • Experience with ARMS software.
