ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR - SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR
Canisius College is accepting applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director/Senior Administrator. The Associate AD will assist in the daily operation for the College’s Department of Athletics, provide leadership and managerial oversight in the areas of internal operations, student-athlete services, and sport supervision. The Associate AD is the recognized voice for female representation within the Department and is the highest-ranking female administrator for the Department. Canisius College is a member of the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Responsibilities: •Provide leadership and guidance for all direct reports. •Prepare performance programs and evaluations for all direct reports and make recommendations to the Athletics Director regarding the future employment status. •Provide leadership for searches for employment vacancies in supervisory areas and make recommendations for appointment to the Athletics Director. •Ensures, through oversight of the Department’s Compliance staff, the College’s overall compliance with MAAC and NCAA rules and regulations. •Serve as the established liaison between the Faculty Athletics Representative and other campus academic, operational and student service units. •Supervise the implementation and accounting of the Athletic Financial Aid awarding and tracking for all sports. •Ensure sport programs comply with the principles of awarding athletics grants-in-aid, recruiting expenditures and roster size in relation to the college’s equity initiatives. •Ensure with the Athletics Operations Assistant that all contest contracts for supervised sports are prepared, executed, and maintained on file in the department. •Oversee and ensure proper coordination of officiating assignments for all supervised sports where necessary. •Accept responsibility of the dissemination of important Division, Conference and NCAA information to all direct reports. •Prepare, in cooperation with other institutional staff, the required NCAA submission for APR, GSR and Federal Graduation rates disclosures. •Assist supervised units and programs with preparation of annual operating budgets and ensure compliance with that approved budget plan. •Serve as the communication contact for issues pertaining to sports supervised (i.e. parents, media, campus, conference, etc.) •Provide leadership for the department in the development and execution of a strategic planning process, operations improvements and other efficiencies compatible with organizational goals and objectives. •Serves as a member of the Athletics Director’s staff and participates in the administrative process of determining and working toward established Department of athletics goals. •Represents the College as the Senior Administrator at all MAAC and NCAA meetings. •Serves as a daily voice for gender issues within the Division of Athletics. •Ensures a continued commitment to gender and minority equity and that established goals and progress toward them is measured annually. •Represents the Division of Athletics and the AD Staff in the planning of all special events related to women’s athletics/WNY Girls in Sports Day. •Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, 12-month position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from College after one year. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
Qualifications: • A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred. • Coaching and/or playing experience is required; coaching, playing, and/or recruiting experience at the Division I Level is preferred. • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required. • Previous experience supervising, communicating with students and professional staff is required. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. • Ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators. • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s license with a positive driving record per the college’s insurance provider (with/or upon moving to NYS obtain a NYS driver’s license within NYS DMV residency guidelines after hire).

Canisius earned high marks from its student body in the 2011 National Survey of Student Engagement. Eighty-five percent of seniors said they would choose Canisius again, if they had to start their college career over.
The student-faculty ratio is 11:1, which allows students to work closely with their instructors, often publishing or presenting scholarly articles based on joint research. There are more than 200 full-time faculty at Canisius, 95 percent of whom hold a PhD or other terminal degree.
Campus Ministry is responsible for the religious life of the campus. Activities are open to students and staff of all faiths and include spiritual retreats, service opportunities and the promotion of social justice. Mass is celebrated in Christ the King Chapel for the college community at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, and 11:45 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
