This position serves as chief operating officer and will assist the Director of Athletics in the overall management, supervision, and leadership of the athletics department. Advise the Director of Athletics on long and short term operational plans. Job Responsibilities Include: Assist the Director of Athletics in the overall management, supervision, and leadership of the department. Serve as Chief Operations Officer for Athletics by advising the Director on long range/strategic planning initiatives, departmental policies/procedures development, planning, monitoring, and allocation of resources. Ensure stability and sustainability departmental budget in compliance with University policy and procedures. Serve as chief representative for Athletics concerning external and internal audits. Develop and administer policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NCAA and other athletic conference rules, regulations and risk management procedures and protocols to minimize the risk of liability. Collaborate with University offices and community agencies to effectively manage assigned functions. Provide direct supervision to selected sports teams. Ensure fiscal soundness and compliance with intercollegiate rules, regulations and procedures. Oversee the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics in absence of the Director of Athletics. Represent the University at appropriate Horizon League, NCAA and university meetings. Manage internal or external operations based on business needs and qualifications. Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree (Sports Administration) preferred. A minimum of eight years of experience as a senior level administrator in intercollegiate athletics. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required. Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and financial management principles. Strong interpersonal, leadership, management and communication skills.
