Graduate Assistant - New Media

Supports Tulane athletics programs and external departments to promote and enhance, through digital and social media, the image of the Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Assists the Director of New Media in implementing the comprehensive integrated communications and marketing strategies which utilize online communications tools, with special attention to social media, video and graphic work to match all social media content. The successful candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, a good communicator and possess the ability to handle numerous assignments in a timely manner with the flexibility to adjust to unscheduled developments involving immediate attention. Must be proficient in video and editing along with skills in photoshop. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Assist in monitoring and executing the department’s social media activities and plans, including updating and managing Tulane Athletics’ presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc. using video, GIFs, graphics and any other material to engage fans and grow the department’s reach. (30%) 2. Assist in the creation, editing and implementation of graphic and video content for TulaneGreenwave.com, Tulane’s social media accounts and various external channels. Maintain fresh and innovative graphics and video for Tulane Athletics’ social media channels and videoboard content. (20%) 3. Execute social media content during home athletic events staying true to the department’s social media plan and voice. (15%) 4. Assist in the development and execution of the social media calendar. A calendar in which the departments uses to plan and execute social media content for strategic planning. (15%) 5. Assist with updating content on TulaneGreenWave.com. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping the overall site updated by working with various groups, creating graphics and generating fresh content and gathering photos for website use. (10%) 6. Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations. (5%) 7. Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the Director of New Media. (5%)
