PRIMARY DUTY: Serve as the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations and Communication ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1.Develop and conduct the media relations and communication programs for all intercollegiate athletics at Northwest 2.Write or coordinate writing of athletic news releases and compile statistics at athletic events 3.Develop, manage and execute strategies and update for athletic social media outlets (in coordination with athletic marketing and the University marketing & communications department) 4.Conduct game-day press box management for sports hosted by Northwest; to include home and visiting radio accommodations, video stream and other essential functions of working press box areas 5.Be responsible for production of athletics publications (including gameday programs/roster cards) 6.Serve as the primary contact for the MIAA Digital Network broadcasts for football, volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball. 7.Maintain all historical data on intercollegiate athletics teams and keep an up to date record book for each sport 8.Submit all appropriate information to the NCAA and MIAA for awards, score recording, records, etc. 9.Serve as a key decision maker on administrative team for athletics 10.Conduct appropriate news conference and other media relations activities as needed 11.Provide appropriate information and coordination with the Bearcat Radio Network and the University marketing & communications department 12.Administer athletic website and social media outlets insuring the accuracy and timeliness of posted information 13.Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and regional media outlets 14.Supervises students and graduate assistants assigned to the media relations/communication office 15.Have working knowledge of NCAA Division II and MIAA conference rules and guidelines 16.Work and travel nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary 17.Assist the Director of Athletics with special projects as assigned 18.Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Education: Bachelor’s degree -Certification/License: Driver’s license -Skills: Strong writing, editing, computer, organizational, communication and mentoring skills; basic knowledge of sports information, media relations, photography, and social media; proficient in Adobe Creative Suite programs and experience in Statcrew statistical software PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: -Education: Master’s degree -Experience: Experience in sports information and media relations -Skills: Strong skills in web design and website management, videography, and Adobe Creative Suite programs, as well as superb writing, editing, computer, organizational, communication and mentoring skills. Ability to effectively manage time, knowledge of Nikon camera equipment, webstream production technology and familiarity with Google Analytics. WORKING CONDITIONS: This position must work and travel nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. This position must purchase and maintain a cellular device and service that will be used for work functions. This position must be responsible for plan choices, calling areas, service features, terminations clauses, and paying for all charges associated with the cellular device and service.
