Athletic Operations & Event Assistant The University of Akron Akron, OH
The University of Akron, A Division I (FBS) institution and member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) is accepting applications for a part-time position as an Athletics Operations and Events Assistant.
Responsibilities: • Assist with home game and event management at all Athletics’ venues • Coordinate game day venue set ups and teardowns • Schedule game staffing, including ushers, scorers, ticketing and police, coordinate crowd control, host game officials, plan visiting team accommodations and work with the home team coaches and support staff • Responsible for specific Men's and Women's sports home game management • Assist with preparation and attend game management meetings • Host the visiting team and game officials, coordinate game usher assignments and assist with venue set ups and teardowns • Assist with the preparation and daily organizing of rental events and sports camps • Facilitate administration and preparation of the event or camp, facility set up and tear down and act as direct contact and/or supervise the facility during the event • Assist with the daily operation of the Athletics' Facilities and Operations Office • Attend staff meetings and assist with the scheduling process, benchmarking and front office and other venue staff coverage during business hours • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in sports management or related field • Minimum one-two years' experience in Athletics facilities, operations and event management as an undergraduate or graduate student • Strong speaking and writing skills and the ability to provide daily outstanding customer service • Able to communicate with a diverse community • Must have ability to comply with NCAA, Mid-American Conference and University rules and procedures • Must be able to adapt to non-traditional and weekend work days
