General Summary In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, the Assistant Director, Communication/Media Relations assists in the management of the communications and media relations functions of the department within the guidelines of the NCAA, the BIG EAST Conference, and DePaul University.
Responsibilities & Duties Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports. This includes design, production and distribution of the media guide, writing and distributing press releases, website maintenance, statistical recordkeeping, fielding media requests and promoting awareness of the program to the local and national media outlets.
Handle and oversee video operations including live streaming scheduling/production and video production for social media, website and DePaul athletics functions including Hall of Fame and annual Banquet.
Assist with the design and maintenance of the Athletic Department website.
Serve as liaison with local and national media on Athletic Department matters.
Communicate with them on a regular basis to promote greater awareness of DePaul Athletics locally and nationally.
Assist director with the data collection, production and dissemination of press releases and media advisories pertaining to the Athletic Department.
Assist in game day operations of Men's and Women's home basketball events.
Knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA rules, policies and procedures pertaining to the sports information and media relations function of the department. Attend and participate in monthly NCAA rules compliance meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree. 1 - 3 years related experience.
Preferred Requirements Master's Degree. 1 - 3 years related experience at the NCAA Division I level.
Managerial responsibilities Supervises two graduate assistants and five-to-seven student assistants. Supervises assigned home game day staff, including scheduling, training, and payroll.
Other Skills & Abilities Required Working knowledge of MicroSoft Office. Working knowledge of current video production and editing software. Working knowledge of current graphic design software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Dedication to serving the department, the University and the student-athletes with the highest level of leadership, initiative and integrity.
