Responsibilities: The Director of Donor Relations and Operations handles all donor benefits and serves as the primary customer service representative for those who support Appalachian State University athletics. Under supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director, this position will devise and implement a comprehensive donor stewardship plan on an annual basis for both annual and leadership gifts. This includes, but is not limited to events, fund reports and communications. This position will actively support front line development personnel in the writing of proposals and foundation requests. The Director of Donor Relations will coordinate student support staff and non-student temp positions. This position will assist senior leadership in management of the annual operating budget, monthly reconciliation of p-cards, time sheets and work hand in hand with staff members to ensure appropriate paperwork is completed and filed. This position serves as a point of contact for the Former Athletes Association and supports the Yosef Club Advisory Board.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Experienced relationship builder with excellence communication skills-and the ability to be responsive, resourceful and relationship-oriented. Background in higher education and athletic department operations or closely related/comparable field. Knowledge of computer systems for prospect, donor, and ticketing management. Ability to work events.
Skills and Abilities: The Director of Donor Relations and Operations coordinates the day-to-day functions of an athletic development operation for Appalachian State University athletics, is responsible for planning and organizing activities, communicate and interpret program information, policy and procedures, provide customer service to clients, and maintain business accounts and records. Work requires considerable knowledge of the assigned program and may require knowledge of related guidelines and information technology systems. Employees often serve as the main program contact, plan and coordinate day-to-day activities, and problem-solve process and procedural issues. Work may involve serving as a program assistant and/or supervisor. Work may involve coordination of transactional services. Program areas of assignment may include one or more of the following: support of fund development, facilities coordination and administration, event coordination, program and administrative support services. Excellent customer service skills to relate to and establish relationships with donors, volunteers and colleagues. Understanding of donor/constituent database systems and the ability to use and analyze data.
