POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In this position the Student Certification Officer will: Serve as the University’s NCAA certifying official Manage the NCAA athlete certification process for the Registrar’s Office Evaluate and analyze academic records and enrollment status of student-athletes to determine eligibility status for practice and competition Determine if NCAA standards have been met regarding percentage of degree requirements, requisite academic standing, GPA, full-time enrollment, progress towards degree, and major declaration Ensure timely submission of eligibility to compete listing to Southland Conference via ACS Athletics system Assist coaching staff with determining eligibility of student-athlete recruits including review of high school and college transcripts Communicate with faculty and other administrative offices via telephone, email and in person regarding student-athletes’ academic progress Complete daily review of student-athletes’ enrollment to ensure compliance with NCAA full-time enrollment requirement Maintain accurate records on each student athlete/sport in the Office of the Registrar, Banner student information system, and ACS Athletics system Assist with interpretations of NCAA rules Assist with preparation of Graduation Success Rates (GSR) Collaborate and communicate with athletics compliance staff Consistently monitor and revise work procedures to improve operations and recommend policy changes to administrators Maintain an up-to-date process and procedure manual pertaining to NCAA certification both within and outside the Office of the Registrar Complete other duties as assigned by the Registrar or Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management.
