K-State Athletics, home of 33-straight sold-out football games and a proud member of the Big 12 Conference, invites applications for a Fan Experience and Sales Graduate Assistant. K-State Athletics graduate assistants play an integral role in the award-winning Fan Experience and Sales office, which strives to create ‘The Best Fan Experience in the Big 12 Conference.’
Selected candidates will receive unparalleled experience and gain valuable skills needed for an entry-level full-time position upon completion of the two-year position. Since 2009, 100% of K-State Fan Experience and Sales graduate assistants have been hired to work full-time in athletics related fields.
The successful candidate will have direct oversight over the development and implementation of all fan experience and game production aspects for two assigned sports (from women’s basketball, volleyball, baseball or soccer) as well as student marketing/attendance promotions and grassroots fan initiatives with a focus on providing ‘The Best Fan Experience in the Big 12 Conference.’ Other opportunities and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Writing scripts for and producing home games. • Coordinating in-game elements including anthem singers, color guards, halftime acts and timeout entertainment. • Developing and implementing student marketing and attendance campaigns for multiple sports. • Managing a staff of 20 undergraduate interns. • Marketing efforts for K-State’s Olympic sport programs. • Managing the Junior Wildcat Kids Club. • Coordinating K-State’s presence at community events and assist with Welcome to K-State Committee.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, sports marketing or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Commitment to two-year position
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a collegiate athletic marketing office
- Experience with an Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator)
Applicants selected for the position must then apply for and be accepted into the K-State graduate school. Assistants must be enrolled in a minimum of six graduate school hours in the fall and spring semesters. Out-of-state applicants will receive in-state tuition rates however, tuition is not covered. Most athletic department graduate assistants pursue a Master of Science in College Student Personnel – Athletics Track or Master of Business Administration.
Applicant must be willing to work nights and weekends, as well as possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
