Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine - Athletic Training
The position will report to the Director of Athletics and the Associate Dean of Liberal Arts for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:
Develop overall Athletic Training program including but not limited to: injury prevention program, injury evaluation, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, education programs and general advising for student trainers.
Responsible for budget, inventory and required materials to supply and operate the training room.
Responsible for taping, bracing, and padding of athletic related injuries.
Coordination of student-athlete doctor’s visits, including transportation.
Daily record keeping.
Assisting with all athletic insurance claims and documentation.
Coordination of athletic physicals.
Responsible for formation of the athletic training staff including training supervision of graduate assistant athletic trainers and student athletic trainers.
Schedule and coordinate coverage of all team practices and athletic contests.
Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the athletic training program.
Develop a working relationship with local physicians and medical offices.
Teach courses within the PHED department.
Must perform other duties and responsibilities required of a full-time employee as outlined in the Angelina College Policies and Procedures Manual.
Master’s Degree in Athletic Training required.
Three years professional experience required.
Certification by NATABOC and State Athletic Training Licensure required.
Teaching experience at the collegiate and/or secondary level preferred.
Public service orientation to work well with faculty/staff/students and community preferred.
Ability to supervise student trainers including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments preferred.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment preferred.
Ability to work with diverse team in a fast-paced environment preferred.
Acceptable computer skills preferred.
Ability to stay abreast of current and developing trends (video, audio, data, and computing technologies) preferred.
Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills preferred.
Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
Understand how to work successfully as a team within all levels of the organization and know how to contribute to the mission of the college.
Additional Salary Information: Annual salary of $50,000 in addition to excellent employee benefits. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for successful candidate.
